Most digital leaders in the UK believe the changes to work brought upon their organization by the Covid-19 pandemic will remain in the long term.
Digital infrastructure company Equinix polled 2,600 IT decision-makers from 26 countries around the world and found that more than two-thirds (69 percent) of UK respondents believe there will be “long-term changes” to where and how people work.
This belief is also partly responsible for the increase in IT spending, as 44 percent rearchitected their IT infrastructure to meet new remote and hybrid working demands.
The Covid-19 pandemic has forced tectonic movement in the business world. Almost half of the respondents in the UK (48 percent) said the lockdown accelerated their digital transformation plans, and many said their budgets have grown as well.
IT strategies are being revised and new technologies that enable a more flexible and agile environment are being acquired.
For most organizations, the digitization of the IT infrastructure is a top priority, with interconnection being perceived as a “key facilitator” of digital transformation.
“Many companies are now investing more in their digital infrastructure to enable them to embrace a hybrid working model and thrive in the new world of work we all find ourselves in,” said Claire Macland, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing at Equinix.
“Despite headwinds in many sectors, many organizations are continuing to expand physically and virtually into new markets and regions around the world.”
