Despite the obvious benefits of the new technologies implemented by businesses at the start of the pandemic, many employees fear their organizations will roll back the changes as soon as restrictions are lifted.
This is according to a poll of nearly 4,000 employees and business leaders across 11 countries, the results of which were published in a new report from The Workforce Institute at UKG.
The report states that 38 percent of respondents believe their employers will go back to the “old way” of operating as soon as possible. But most of the respondents (60 percent) would prefer to keep hold of the technologies adopted during the pandemic.
Digging deeper into the benefits created by these technologies, The Workforce Institute found creating a better customer and employee experience, and improving the decision-making process were the main three. This was made possible through the increased use of mobile applications and self-service solutions.
Despite most workers being happy with the speed and efficiency with which businesses adopted new technologies in the face of disaster, most believe these changes should have been made far sooner.
“Covid-19 turned the world of work upside down and clearly forced the digital transformation hand in a very short period of time,” said Peter Harte, Group VP EMEA at UKG.
“Some organizations were simply trying to survive – and still are – but others have been thriving. One year later, organizations are seeing the fruits of their digital transformation labor and it’s now imperative to have a technology roadmap to aid them in thriving throughout the remainder of 2021 and into the future to keep pace with developments to not only protect their bottom line, but also meet the needs of their people and customers.”
