Last year, when hybrid and remote working were just beginning to emerge as a major new trend in business, IT teams were rolling out new technologies to employees based on their positions and seniorities, in a very inflexible way.
However, with the evolution of working culture, the way businesses roll out new technologies has also changed to become more fluid. According to a new report from unified communications and collaboration firm TelcoSwitch, this is a welcome change for businesses seeking greater sustainability and adaptability.
“As a level of confidence in businesses and the economy returns, we’re seeing IT teams start to embrace the hybrid working reality in terms of technical rollouts,” explained Aaron Foster, Chief Technology Officer at TelcoSwitch.
“When working on such projects, it’s now more about the fact that any employee could be anywhere on any given day, rather than introducing new tech based on the position they hold within the company, or whether they’re permanently based in the office.”
According to Foster, this is a “sensible” approach, as it simplifies how IT departments manage blanket rollouts for technical solutions. Today, businesses understand better how a hybrid approach works, which enables IT departments to put their medium- and long-term plans in place and makes sure that the technology deployment meets demand.
“Further, IT security and governance have generally been very well managed throughout the upheaval of the last year, so we’re hoping to see this continue,” Foster added.
